Shanghai Museum East is the branch to prioritise for the museum's permanent ancient-Chinese-art collections. Individual visitors currently enter free without a general reservation, but should bring an original valid identity document and use the B1 east gate near Dingxiang Road. The museum is too large to absorb well in one sweep, so select two or three collections before arrival and treat interactive or ticketed exhibitions separately.
